Talk Abstract
The talk deals with the significant developments and innovations in compression technologies for multimedia that led to the emergence of international standards such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-1 audio layer 3 (MP3), and MPEG-4 (see MPEG standards). These standards were the baselines in the development of multimedia rich consumer products and played a significant role in the emergence of media-rich Internet and World Wide Web. Novel technologies on image water marking, image content retrieval, compressed domain processing, and other high-level image processing functions will also be discussed.

Bitstop Computers officially joined the computer industry in mid 1989 as a sole proprietorship. The small enterprise carried computer hardware systems, computer supplies and accessories, and catered to a number of corporate clients. A Naga City branch is also operating in the beautiful province of Camarines Sur, Bicol Region.  However, with the power of the internet, its reach can now be considered global.
