The Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (VMUF) here was listed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as one of the top 10 veterinary schools in the country.
CHED officials cited VMUF as one of the veterinary schools with excellent programs obtaining 80.89% compliance rating. The VMUF-College of Veterinary Medicine started in 1976.
Dr. Leo B. Solis, dean of the college of veterinary medicine said that is has produced a top-caliber veterinarian, Dr. Jonathan S. Luna of Balungao, Pangasinan a 9th placer in the 1995 licensure examination.
The VMUF is the only private university in Region I offering veterinary medicine course. It has a provision for free extension services to farmers like castration, vaccination and other animal-health related activities.
The college garnered 3rd place in the recently concluded regional search for the outstanding youth science-researchers (TOYS) sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and the CHED.
Dr. Leo B. Solis added that VMUF is due for Level 1 accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities-Commission on Accreditation (PACU-COA). NCC
